Dr. Valarie Anne Yerdon and The Heart House Method™
Meet Dr. Valarie Anne Yerdon
Born and raised on the Tug Hill Plateau in Osceola, New York, Dr. Valarie Yerdon founded Heart House On The Hill. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this wellness program. With a PhD in Psychology and expertise in Cognitive and Neuro Psychology, Dr. Yerdon has dedicated over two decades to advocating for mental health and empowering women through faith-led, evidence-based practices. A true focus on a woman speaking and living in her authentic truth, where faith meets psychology and science, in love and the highest vibrations.
From her quiet beginnings at the primary school attendance at the One Room Schoolhouse, as is depicted in the Jewel of Osceola, Lewis County, New York, to her middle and high school in Camden, New York, and onto her college and graduate studies in Syracuse and Florida, she brought with her the resilience and grit learned early on in the small, generationally grounded community.
She knows what it means to start over at a time when it seems it is all planned out in front of you. She knows the difficulty, pain, struggle, and most importantly, the possibility that can be there when we go where God is leading, rather than where we had planned. She incorporates her life experience into every lesson, book, and session, not only speaking the way, but also having lived it – losing everything and having to start over and rediscover what God has planned – and, through this, knowing the path to lead others through. This is her heart. This is her passion. From this, The Heart House, LLC, was born, dedicated to bringing healing, health, and authentic living to women of every age and walk of life.
Dr. Valarie A. Yerdon is the creator of The Heart House Method™, a neuroscience-informed approach to understanding and transforming the patterns that shape how we think, feel, and respond.
With a strong faith in God and a doctoral background in psychology, cognitive science, and neuroscience research, her work bridges the gap between faith, awareness, and real change—integrating the brain, nervous system, and identity to create transformation at the level where patterns form, growing love, high vibrations, healing, and connection.
The Heart House, LLC was born from a deeper calling: to create a space where women no longer have to feel stuck in patterns they didn’t choose that came from their human experiences, but can instead experience a sacredly fulfilled, authentic, grounded, and lasting shift into who they truly are in God’s eyes.
The Heart House Method™ integrates neuroscience and nervous system regulation to create change at the level where your patterns were formed.
This method works with:
The brain’s ability to rewire patterns.
The nervous system’s need for safety.
The identity shaped by lived experience
Because when these systems shift together, change doesn’t have to be forced. It becomes natural.
Dr. Valarie Yerdon is a New York State-certified wellness coach and holds a Ph.D. in Human Factors Psychology, with a concentration in the Psychology of Cognitive Science and Neuroscience. She is deeply committed to her faith and to understanding the love God has for them, to help women break generational patterns that limit growth, confidence, and emotional freedom.
Leveraging her expertise in cognitive and neuropsychology, Dr. Yerdon brings a scientific yet faith-led, compassionate approach to coaching. She empowers women to identify and rewire inherited beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve them, whether in leadership, relationships, or self-worth.

Dr. Valarie A. Yerdon is a distinguished international author, speaker, psychologist, human factors expert, and New York State-certified wellness coach with a Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in Cognitive Science and the Neuroscience of the human experience. It has been her passion to learn how humans learn, grow, and respond to the environment across developmental stages and into adulthood, with a systems perspective. The human experience is unique to each person, but the way we perceive, store, and process this information is not unique; it is part of how our brain, body, nervous system, mind, and spirit are designed to help us survive and develop in this world.
Dr. Valarie holds a deep Christian faith, understanding that we are souls within a body with a mind, interconnected with one another through energy. She is gifted at bridging different faiths, toward the release of binding experiences that constrain our energy and spirit, leading to the looping of unconscious patterns, with love, peace, and light energy, as God intends.
She specializes in many areas of healing for women, from what God has brought her through, along with the opportunities of education and her gifted mind and spirit. Her beliefs are rooted in Christianity and are marked by deep compassion and understanding of the path to healing for women. Whether you feel constrained by experience with a narcissist, or you have had toxic relationships and don’t know how to trust yourself, or others, Dr. Valarie has clear, concise practices to help you find your way to authentic and genuine living, where you can bloom and shine your true self the brightest.
Boundaries can seem difficult for some to define or uphold, with guilt and shame woven into your self-care, but these feelings also stem from childhood experiences your brain recorded to shape how you see the world and how you fit in (or believed you didn’t). She is inspired by the changed lives she sees in this work, and THIS is what drives her to continue in this calling.

The Heart House on the Hill Seasonal Retreat Ministry
At Heart House on the Hill, our mission is to empower women by providing a nurturing space that fosters healing, learning, and growth. We are dedicated to helping women rediscover their authentic selves and regain their sacred feminine energy through personalized wellness coaching and transformative retreats.
Located amidst the serene beauty of the Tug Hill Plateau Region in Northern Upstate New York, located in the foothills of the Adirondacks, our vision is to be a sanctuary where women can disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with nature, their inner selves, and a supportive community. We aim to inspire and support women on their journey to overcome generational trauma and embrace healthier, more fulfilling lives.
“If you’ve ever felt unworthy… anxious… or lack confidence, it just doesn’t come naturally to you—
It’s not because you’re broken.
It’s because your nervous system was wired in environments that didn’t feel safe.
If you were raised by overprotective parents, you may have learned that the world is dangerous… and your instincts can’t be trusted.
If you were raised by underprotective parents, you may have felt invisible—left to survive without a map.
These patterns often come from generations before you.
Inherited nervous systems.
Inherited beliefs.
Inherited silence.
But here’s the sacred truth:
Your brain is not fixed. Your soul is not stuck.
You were born with the power to rewire the pathways that were passed down.
Through presence.
Through breath.
Through somatic healing, ritual, movement, and devotion to your truth—
You can repattern your brain.
You can create new pathways of trust, calm, and deep inner worth.
You are the sacred feminine woman who remembers.
Who reclaims.
Who rewires.
You are the one who creates the new legacy—
Not just for you, but for everyone who comes after.”

Academic and Research Contributions
Dr. Yerdon’s academic journey began later in life, after decades as a teacher, mentor, and entrepreneur, while raising three beautiful sons. As a returning student after the end of her long-term marriage, she began again with her sons, pets, and a veraciousness to live and model a legacy as she attained her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a minor in Legal Studies, which was immediately followed by a Master’s of Science in Modeling and Simulation for Human Systems at the University of Central Florida (UCF).
She can attest that life is not over in your 40s! She not only returned to complete her B.S. and M.S. at this age as a single mom starting with nothing materially, but was also invited to apply to and accepted into a prestigious, rigorous doctoral program. She accepted this challenge, knowing it would cost time from family, commitment, hard work, sacrifice, and dedication, not only financially, but also personally with family and friends. She successfully defended her dissertation at 54 and walked across the stage at 55, while caring for her family and contributing to the science of her field and passion.
Her research has been pivotal in understanding human-automation and environmental interactions, learning, recall, attention, and training, and has earned her the honor of contributing to projects with the Department of Defense, NASA, NATO, IARPA, and leading industry partners. Notably, her work on eye-tracking as an active indicator of insider threats has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, highlighting her expertise in detecting illicit activities within normal workflows, and she has over 25 peer-reviewed scientific publications and internationally presented works.
Professional Experience
Dr. Yerdon has held significant roles in her professional career that bridge the gap between research and application. As a Scientist, she focuses on human-centered engineering initiatives, emphasizing adaptive and dynamic learning environments, digital twin technologies, human-AI teaming, and machine learning for information analytics. Her role involved applying her extensive experience to modernize and digitize adaptive learning and training systems from a holistic, systems perspective.
In her role with Thor Solutions, LLC, as a contractor for the United States Coast Guard (USCG), in their Human Systems Integration (HSI) (USCG-DPR-23) Division, as a Senior HSI Analyst and Senior HSI Subject Matter Expert (SME), she plays an integral role in the human-centered usability in the design, building, training, and safety of the USCG ships. During this work with the USCG, she is honored to serve on the NATO Industrial Advisory Group (NIAG) and the Science and Technology Organization (STO), leveraging her depth of experience and knowledge in research and design.
She now chooses to dedicate her life, mind, energy, and commitment to building a network and system that supports and grows women through her passion project, as the legacy of her life.
Entrepreneurial Ventures
Beyond her corporate roles, Dr. Yerdon is the founder of The Heart House, LLC, and Heart House on the Hill Wellness Retreat in the Adirondacks. Through these ventures, she offers transformative coaching and restorative retreats, aiming to equip, empower, and inspire women—particularly those who have experienced trauma and seek to heal not only themselves but also their families—to build lives and legacies grounded in purpose, emotional wellness, and financial freedom.

Commitment to Mentorship and Community
Dr. Yerdon’s dedication to teaching, mentoring, and leadership extends to community involvement. As a woman’s Bible school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and leader, children’s mission leader, and Bible school teacher, her heart has always been for the balance between body, mind, and soul care. She continued this while in school and working full time, showing her heart for others as she volunteered as a mentor to undergraduate students through UCF’s Eureka program and served as the Secretary of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) student chapter, reflecting her commitment to fostering growth in higher education and the sciences. In addition, Dr. Yerdon served the small communities where she resided and ran her business, mentoring and modeling for those who would come after.
Legacy and Impact
Dr. Yerdon’s multifaceted career seamlessly integrates rigorous academic research, practical application in the defense and technology sectors, and a passionate commitment to personal development and wellness coaching for women, empowering them in their health and wellness across their lifetimes and for their families. Her work continues to create powerful ripple effects across generations, helping women rewrite their stories and reclaim their power.
